Terms of service

Last updated: 2026-09-16

1. Who we are

NotaryBook is a self-hosted booking and growth platform for small mobile notary, Live Scan and apostille businesses. It is operated from Sacramento, California, United States. By signing up and using the service you agree to these terms.

These terms apply to the platform operator (us) and to every business that creates an account (you, the operator). Customers who book through a NotaryBook business are not parties to these terms; their relationship is with the business.

2. Accounts

You must provide a real name, a working email address, and accurate business information. You are responsible for what happens under your account: keep your password and any connected integrations (Stripe, Google) secure, and tell us promptly if you suspect misuse.

We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, abuse the platform, or remain inactive for an extended period. We will give you reasonable notice when we can. You may close your account at any time from the admin dashboard; export your data before you do.

3. Acceptable use

Use NotaryBook to run a legitimate notary, fingerprinting, apostille or adjacent professional service. Do not use it to send unsolicited messages, misrepresent your credentials, or process payments for services you do not actually provide.

You are responsible for the content you publish on your site (your services, prices, copy, uploaded documents) and for complying with the licensing and consumer-protection rules of your state and the states you serve. NotaryBook does not review your content for legal sufficiency.

4. Payments

Card payments run through Stripe Connect on your own Stripe account. NotaryBook never holds your funds: deposits and full charges are processed by Stripe and paid out to your bank on Stripe's normal schedule. Refunds and disputes are yours to handle inside your Stripe dashboard; we provide the surface area but not the decisions.

Stripe's own processing fees apply to every charge. We may add a small platform fee on paid bookings when paid plans launch; we will publish the rate on the pricing page before it takes effect.

5. Your data and your customers' data

You own the data you put into NotaryBook: your business profile, your services, your bookings, your customers' contact details and the documents they upload for an order. We process that data only to run the service for you — sending confirmations, reminders, receipts, and the operational messages your account is configured to send.

We do not sell your data or your customers' data, and we do not advertise against it. Our service providers (hosting, email, SMS, voice, payments) process data under written agreements that restrict them to running the service.

If you stop using NotaryBook, export what you need and ask us to delete the rest. We will confirm deletion within 30 days.

6. Availability and changes

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee it. We may take the service down for maintenance, with notice when we can. We may change features, add integrations, and update these terms; material changes are emailed to the address on your account before they take effect.

During early access, features are free but may change shape quickly. We will let you know before a change affects bookings you have already taken.

7. Contact

Questions about these terms or anything else: see the contact page for the current address. We read every message and reply within two business days.
